A simple dream.

1st week in Calgary

January 13, 2009

It is time for me to update my blog after a long long time. My girlfriends have being asking me to do so.

My first week in Calgary was quite alright. The homesick feeling was in me for the past few days.  I hope this feeling will diminish as the days go passed. I really miss my friends and family. But  I am glad that Auntie Florence was there to pick me up and provide me with the necessary items for my hall. I felt really lucky to know her. It was freezing when I touched down last Thursday. -26 degrees! But the subsequent days was much better when temperature fluctuates between -10 degrees and 2 degrees.

I moved into hall the very next day when I reached Calgary. It was a 4bedroom apartment with 2 locals and a Denmark housemate. My Denmark housemate was pretty nice to get along with. Anyway I guess I have to learn to be independent from now on, learning to cook, do the laundry etc, in short, means to live on my own.

I just went for my first class today alone. Haven’t gotten a chance to make any new friends yet but I hope things will turn out well for me. The classes here are super slack. I have  a 4 day week timetable and an off day on Friday. Lessons are usually 75 min per session and they are all seminars style with no tutorials. Life is so much easier here. My timetable are so short as compared to my NUS friends who are in Science and Engineering that I have no idea how to spend my free time during the weekdays. I will probably stay in my room to sleep,  surf the net or STUDY! haha.

Here are some pics I took with Lisa during the weekends =)

July 10, 2008

Went to send May off today at the airport. I think I can never understand the mixed feelings she was having at the airport. Excited that she is going to explore a new place, but scared and worried because she is stepping out of her comfort zone to a place that is totally unfamiliar to her. But still,I am sure she will have alot of fun there just like most of the ppl who went for exchange.

Bye May, take care, we will miss you! see u on 6 Jan =)

Mel Trip 2008

July 10, 2008

I’m blogging again.

June 14, 2008

I decided to blog again after a long long disconnection with wordpress. But I doubt anyone will see this new entry cos my blog is usually in sleep mode for the past few months.

Hols was great with my Aust trip with Koon and my cousin + CS.

I love Mel, how I wish I could migrate there. Sometimes I will be wondering since I have an accountancy degree, maybe one day I should migrate to Aust. I simply love the laidback feeling in Aust..

My 10 days trip was really fruitful and I have to thank my “cousin” (aunt actually) for makin my trip a superb one!

Hols was great with shopping and GSS.

I bought quite abit stuff both in Mel and Sin but it is never enough esp GSS is ongoing. I have my eyes set on a few items and hopefully I will get them during my bdae! (it is obvious a hint to my friends out there, haha)

But Hols now was not that great with my work as an intern.

I stupidly agree to a 10 weeks internship when I can opt for a 8 weeks one. Hopefully nobody rmb abt it.haha. Cant wait for my internship to end.

I realised I was so bored with my work that I went out almost everyday after work. Last wednesday was the only day that I went home straight after work after 5 weeks of internship. I know I am terrible. I guess I am not a home person afterall. The thought of going home after work is quite boring so I also have my timetable planned.

Anyway I seriously need to sort mine own timetable in life. It is getting to be unorganized and I am irritated by it.

Batam Getaway

March 20, 2008

This was a surprise trip planned by Alvin to celebrate our 1st year anniversary.  I was overjoyed when he told me that we were be out of town to batam for a short getaway.

Batam trip was superb though I was sick on the first night. Too sick till we didn’t get to visit the pub there. Nevertheless, we did almost everything we planned on our agenda=)

Everything came as a surprise, the candlelight dinner, the massage, the resort and most importantly was the exotic cabana room that we stayed in. One of the most wonderful room I had ever been into. All these was in this honeymoon package that Alvin signed up for and I didn’t know the activities that were lined up for me till I step into the resort.

Thanks dear for making our 1st year anniversary a memorable one!

Welcome to Batam Harris Resort

My Lovely Cabana. We were lucky to upgrade to the cabana, a small little hut that face the sea for free.

(Alvin requested for the flowers)

That’s the small little balcony of ours that face the sea.

(I think they seriously need to clean up their beach)

After checking in the room, we went over to Nagoya Hill, the biggest shopping centre in Batam to shop. But there was really nothing impressive abt that place. We were so bored and ended up shopping for food at the supermarket (my fav hangout) and we got ourselves a mug of root beer float from our our time fav – A & W.

Back in hotel. Is time to get ready for our candlelight dinner by the pool. I am totally in love with the atmosphere. The food was really grade A restaurant standard and the serving was huge. The live band went around singing dedicated songs to each table. When it was our turn, Alvin chosen Eric Clapton “Wonderful Tonight”. The batam-goers really can sing damn well. and Alvin too.

Took some pics at the beach. Pardon my camera flash. I doubt you all can even see the beach behind us.

Second day started off with a morning buffet spread. I was sick so I didn’t get to eat much though.

Went for the indo massage which was part of the package. Great! I felt asleep halfway, guess I was too relaxed.haha.

We did some cycling outside the resort and swimming before we head back to Sin.

We came across this place when we were cycling. It does not look like batam at all.

For a moment I thought I was in NZ. haha.

We attempt to do the SMU jump! I cant jump high. argh

(so much differ!)

We took the couple bike=)

Good things always had to come to an end. Goodbye Batam Harris!!
